Closing Time

I’m listening to Closing Time as I write this:

So strange to think that I last posted in this blog over a year ago! I see my last entry was before Halloween 2007 so I’m guessing that the typical holiday rush started and I didn’t have much free time to write for the next few months. Normally I think I would have resumed posting in January 2008 after “normal” life returned…but if I remember correctly, I discovered Facebook right around that time.

Yes, after denying so many invites and fighting many pleas to join, I finally succumbed to peer pressure and joined “Crackbook” at the beginning of last year. I thought I would just briefly use it to see what the hype was all about and I was so sure I would return to my comfortable world of Friendster in short order.  Alas, it was not to be. Facebook quickly made sure I realized who was in charge and my social network was promptly owned/pwned (yes, both are accurate) by it in no time.

Since then I’ve visited my Friendster page occasionally and it’s been nice, like saying hello to an old friend. But my visits were so infrequent, I often forgot I had a blog on here, which is why I’ve been “silent” for so long. It has been sweet rereading my old entries though…brings back many fond memories and my ramblings amuse me as always. I hope that my words also entertained you in some small way. =)

However, seeing as how I don’t plan to really return here, I think the time has come for me to close this particular window into my life. Don’t worry, I’ll keep all the old entries up for nostalgia’s sake but this will be my final post here. I’ve enjoyed the ride and it was a nice intro into the online world of shared writing, even if Friendster’s bad wysiwyg editor often drove me crazy (good thing I always keep some super rusty xhtml in my cyber-pocket). I’m sure we’ll meet again online somewhere…until then, take care!
